We are looking for an experienced Distribution and Packaging Engineer with strong communication and documentation skills to join our passionate Distribution Technology Team.

As the Documentation Expert in our team you will participate and may lead cross-functional teams in content preparation for documentation, e.g. submission to regulatory authorities; partner closely with key stakeholders, apply critical thinking, scientific writing, data interpretation, and knowledge of packaging and distribution technology life-cycle.

The Packaging and Distribution Engineering Team supports the establishment of a world-class smart manufacturing and logistics capabilities. The team provides technical expertise, project leadership and network alignment for the sourcing, development, qualification, implementation of global logistic monitoring solutions/IoT, thermal shipping systems as well as tertiary packaging. Furthermore, the incumbent will be leading/supporting projects related to packaging manufacturing and shipping digital transformation and LPS (Lean Production System) initiatives.

The incumbent will provide the necessary technical expertise and tactical execution to ensure monitoring and thermal shipping systems life-cycle efforts on a global level to meet business, regulatory (according current good distribution practice, GDP) and technical requirements. May lead or manage projects.

The work is regularly reviewed on soundness of judgment, overall adequacy, and accuracy, work priorities and timelines are established with supervision. A key success factor of our function is effective collaboration with supply chain logistics, distribution commercial and clinical quality, clinical supply chain, distribution hubs, internal manufacturing sites, CMOs as well as regulatory affairs.

Your Key Accountabilities:

• Contributes to regulatory filings and health authorities information requests: Responsible for the coordination and preparation of document packages for regulatory submissions in accordance with applicable regulatory guidelines/Roche standards/SOPs.
• Plans content and creates timelines for the project documentation strategy ensuring alignment with overall project timelines where appropriate. eg. Thermal shipping system qualification.
• Reviews/ Creates documents for organization, clarity, scientific standards, and consistency of content, data, and messaging. Resolves issues with cross-functional contributors. Ensures compliance with regulatory / technical requirements and business needs.
• Manages the review and approval process of documents including periodic review.
• Contributes to internal and external quality audits, and GMP maintenance.
• Support identification and customization of innovative logistics Monitoring/IoT solutions, thermal shipping systems, and tertiary packaging.
• Support identification and customization of advanced packaging materials supporting high technical performance and sustainability.
• Support concept, piloting, and implementation of technologies for digital packaging manufacturing as well as Data Science for lean production.
• Works closely with PTT and interdepartmental staff to meet department and company goals.
• Presents ideas, project goals, and results across departments, to senior management, and at international meetings.
• Ensures the integration of environmental health, safety, and security

Who You Are:

• Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in a Life Science or Engineering
• 3-5 year experience in pharmaceuticals packaging, ideally experience with IoT, smart packaging, and pharmaceutical supply chain.
• Demonstrated ability to produce clear, high-quality scientific writing in the English language
• Proficient in scientific and technical, peer-reviewed writing, editing, reviewing, and submission of abstracts, posters, oral presentations, technical documentation, and reviews with different audiences.
• Exceptional organizational and project planning skills with particular attention to detail
• Sound knowledge of legislation, regulatory guidance, and industry standards for packaging and thermal shipping systems (ISTA, 7D, ASTM, ISO, USP, qualification/validation)
• Strong analytical skills as well as smart risk-taking capability. Thinks through problems clearly and logically
• Dynamic, self-starter and adaptable to change
• Ability to work effectively on cross-functional, geographically diverse teams, and establishes strong collaborative relationships.
• Ability to present and convince by offering trusted expertise. Strong influential skills
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
• English both verbal and in writing, German is a plus

Travel Requirements:

This position may require up to 20% domestic and international travel.
