The Financial Analyst is responsible for recording the Agency’s financial transactions, preparing the monthly financial statements, preparing annual budget details, completing progress reports on spending for various ministries, tracking program spending for all of the Agency’s programs and projects, performing variance analysis, acting as audit lead, and providing financial support to internal and external clients.

  • Completion of the monthly financial statements (Statement of Revenue & Expenses, Balance Sheet, Trial Balance) for all of the Agency’s programs and projects including gathering of information, preparing and recording journal entries, budget maintenance and account analysis.
  • Monitoring of quarterly budget versus actual expenses and preparing reports that include variance explanations received from Program Managers and Directors.
  • Tracking in detail budgeted salaries and benefits versus actual, tracking gapped positions, employee changes, and vacancies.
  • Responding to requests from management for financial data, for example: preparing summary of the historical facility costs or a report on historical revenues and expenses.
Hours of Work:
Regular office hours, Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM

Position Effective:
ASAP

Requirements:
  • 4 year degree in Business, Commerce or Economics;
  • CPA designation preferred;
  • 4 to 6 years practical experience in job specialty;
  • 2 to 4 years budget and finance experience preferably in public sector (Municipal or Health).
Additional skills:
  • Strong analytical skills, thorough knowledge of PSAB;
  • Computer skills – competency in Excel and Sage 300 ERP;
  • Experience with Questica Budget Software an asset;
  • Excellent organization and communication skills;
  • Detail oriented;
  • Good time management, self-starter.
